Question for mechanical pump folks.

I'm gonna need a new throttle cable for the Suberban. The old one ( in there now) is out of a junker and has had a "catch" in it, as you start to add throttle, just off idle. I have the pedal out, the only uncrowded place to put the TPS cable grommet from Compushift, being right above the pedal assembly. So, anyone have a source for a new cable that won't break the bank? A quick G-search found all kinds, but none specific to a 6.2, or 6.5. I'm not averse to doing a couple of mods, but, I'm hoping that TDP folks can point me to a quicker fix.

If it has the 4911 pump and the linkage hasn't been hacked up, you'll want the cable for a 1993 6.5TD. It should be what was used for the conversion.

I used one out of a 89 pickup that had a v6 in it when i did the conversion on my tow truck

As far as I know, the cables are no longer available from conventional sources. You might check salvage yards, but Quadstar Tuning will be coming out with a replacement soon:

Thanks, guys. Dmax, that's exactly what I have in there, now. The 4911 pump came out of a 98-99 big van. I remember that I was surprised, when Burlington Diesel told me that, because I thought that all 6.5 TD's had electronic pumps In them from 93 on.
Not glad, but not surprised that the factory cables are no longer available.
I'll probably order up a cable from one of the suppliers that I saw on my G-search, the other day. Mine measures almost right at 48 in. OA. Having modified a lot of cables in my bike shop, back in the day, I'm not scared of doing a few more mods.������

Turns out that the "catch " on my existing cable was due to a swadged on collar, around the inner cable, catching on the plastic shroud at the inner end of the outer cable. Seems that when I inadvertently broke the plastic hinge at the bottom of the old throttle pedal lever, a year ago, it allowed the fork at the top , that pulls the cable, to drop down and thus letting the bottom of that little limiting collar to catch on the hard plastic outer tube /sleeve. I always wondered why it would "catch" when cold, but go back to smooth, once it was warm inside the car. I duplicated the the GM throttle hinge with a piece of half-inch aluminum and now, the "pull" end of the lever is lined up perfectly with the cable and it's glass smooth, again.
Hadn't been for taking the whole thing out to give me room to hole-saw an access for the Compushift TPS sensor wires, I'd have arbitrarily bought a cable, and probably kicked along for months, sputtering about that catch in the throttle.
Anyway, I've been laying low for close to two weeks, with a pesky sore pectoral and a matching place under the left shoulder blade. Was wearing on me, so, I broke down and went over to the clinic in Snowflake, yesterday, to find out that I had exactly what my secretary of 63 years had told me 10+ days ago. Shingles, of course! And, I about 13 days too late for the proper course of meds. So, it's 2 Tylanol and 2 Ibuprofen, night and morning, just like I've been doing for many days, now, until the dang thing runs its course. Funny, a couple of times, back, 9-12 days ago,I'd get ready for bed, dose myself up and tell Jean that, "If I'm still alive in the morning, I'm gonna go see somebody." Well, I'd think I was a little better, so, I'd put it off. Should have listened to her.
About 30 years ago, I got up one morning, put a Tshirt on and the dang thing hurt my right flank. I probed around back there, couldn't find it, dropped the shirt back down on it, and it hurt, again. I went to the doctor's, thinking shingles. Sure enough. Less than 5 minutes and I'm out the door. Stopped on the way home and picked up a script, and, in two days I was over it. This time, I had streaking pains, puffy swelling and finally, some rash on my left pec. Fooled me, and I'm paying for it, this time.

Sorry to hear about your bout with shingles. I've experienced it twice, so far. Once on my right thigh from the hip to the knee in 2016, about a 2" sparsely blistered strip, then again about a year ago, on my left chest, limited to the center of sternum to about the center of my side, just a narrow stripe of sparse blisters. Neither of the episodes were very dramatic, with not much pain, like I've heard others experience. I count myself lucky, or tougher than I think. The earlier episode, I didn't catch it until well into it, so no treatment was practical, other than topical and analgesics. The second time, I caught it within 2 days, called my Dr, and got meds for it. Relief or not, I couldn't tell. It still ran the customary 30 day cycle, albeit a minor outbreak, IMO. Actually lighter discomfort than the first. Both sites flare up about every 2 months now, with some minor pain, pin pricks, burning, or numbness. My brother had a very different experience. He's 3 years younger than me, and got it about 3 years after my first. His was devastating, and he still has issues from it that are debilitating. As I recall, when were were kids and went through chicken pox, he had a very hard time with it, with the most pox, by a lot, for the longest time. My younger sister and I didn't seem to have a significant outbreak. She hasn't had shingles, to date.
