I'd use a stick, or a shovel handle, or a screw driver (or clamp a vise-grip on it), but a glove would work. Anything that interrupts the vibration. Do the same anywhere else the sound sounds like it's coming from.

I have had two 6.5 rigs that made one Gawd awful noise that was all coming from that sheet metal turbo shield.
One rig I got dirt cheap because the lot thought the engine was about to blow up....It was that noisy.....
Sounded like all the lifters on that side had collapsed.....
When the lot lizard was away for a bit I grabbed onto the sheet metal shield and pooooof...Quiet as a mouse....Paid them their asking price and life was good....

Went to look at a used Miller 110 wire feed. Guy was asking $250. He said it belonged to a friend and he was selling it for him. Said it was working good then stopped working. Opened the cover, it was out of wire. Ended up giving him $100 for it.
