Picked up a 2002 Express 3500 as a tow rig/weekend camping vehicle.
Sorry, no pic yet. Lets see how clueless I can look...
Think it's got a 6.5, but read 6.6 started in 01. Is there a thread that breaks down drivetrains?
No owners manual, should I find a replacment, get a chiltons ect. or go straight to factory service book.
That's a start for me, I promise to get more educated.

It's a 6.5L. L65 engine designation (heavy duty). A Duramax would have been a "1" for 2002, but there was no Duramax option for vans in 2002.

You can get an owner's manual through a dealer parts department, or from www.helminc.com.

The Owner's Manual is good for scheduled maintenance and feature/option information, but little else. If you intend to DIY, you'll serve yourself best with some more comprehensive publications. One of your best sources is HERE, and TDP printed publications specific to your engine. Contact Jim (More Power) for more information on these, or fill out the online subscription/order form. Many past articles and product reviews are still available in the Member's Area of TDP, and watch for new articles to be featured in the Updates and Announcements Forum around the 15th of every month. And, of course, become an active participant in the forums, the best Dieselhead think tank you'll find anywhere.

For dealer service department manuals, www.alldatadiy.com (online), or www.helminc.com (print). Either of these will be the same as used by dealer service and specialized independent shops. Steer clear of the Chilton's and Haynes, etc. manuals, if at all possible. We've found they generate more questions than answers.

I have purchased stuff from Helm inc and had great results.
ebay will also see stuff like this come and go at good prices.

The factory manuals are the only good solution to help with repairs on brand and vehicle specific stuff.

I have bought several sets of books off ebay and been very happy.

Recently bought a factory wiring book for the 1991 R-V (Burb Blazer) models.
Was in new condition and priced right.
