Default Current price of fuel now?

We always here how high it gets when market price goes up . Has it come back down anywhere? We were down to 0.83 $/l from 1.10 $/l in the summer.

Price is still going up here. Filled up for $2.85 a gallon. Saw some stations 20 miles north selling #2 for as high as $3.19.

    Thumbs down

    Hi
Before xmas we our prices were $1.059 a liter for both diesel and gas,and heating fuel was down to $0.76 a liter.
Then our supplier told us their was a shortage of diesel and our diesel prices are now at $1.159 a liter and $0.97 a liter for heating fuel
They never elaborated to exactly where the shortage is,but i'm 100 % sure it is'nt any where close to the refinerys were our fuel comes from.
I guess they expect us to belive them........

Before our elections (November), I saw diesel as low as 2.25/gal. That station is now at 2.59/gal. Just a few miles away most stations are around 2.75-2.80.

Well oil's back down under $55/barrel but I hope nobody's surprised that fuel prices haven't dropped proportionally. Around here diesel's going for $2.60-$2.70, gasoline is $2.30-$2.40 for 87 octane. Since I'm getting rid of my diesel (unless a garage or shop to work on it magically appears) it looks like I'll be more concerned with the latter from now on.

Here in Kelowna diesel dropped at some stations to 1.02/Liter. It would be nice to see it back at 55-60/Liter. Wouldn't ya know it, I bought my truck and diesel shot up

Default Holding Here in SE Idaho

Diesel prices have been holding steady at $2.74 at the local Flying J here in SE Idaho for the last three weeks. I just put 25 gallons in my OEM and my biggest beef is that the new ULSD pumps cut off my Visa checkcard at $50 and I have to run a "double transaction" to fill my 40 gallon aux AND my 26 gallon OEM!

I just returned from a 2,500 mile round trip to NW MO. Prices near the interstates ranged from a low of $2.349 to a high of $2.559, oth coming and going. Here in north central Florida, local prices are around $2.619, but near I-75, they're $2.749.

My brother in law owns a small grocery store in a small town in central Alabama and he received a shipment of offroad diesel yesterday and the price has dropped from $2.099 to $1.899/gallon. I don't know what the taxes are in Georgia for onroad diesel but the trend is at least in the right direction. Ed

    Hello All,

I'll tell you why diesel is way more expensive now than about 5 years ago when I think it was close to $ 1.10 in most places. Its going to the war effort, I can personally tell you from 6 years in the army as a Cavalry Scout, the military consumes a helluva lot of diesel. Everything runs off of diesel or some blend of it, i.e. JP-8. From small 1k generators, and even power washers, yeah you read that right, a 5 horsepower diesel, power/ pressure washer the size of a honda civic engine. All the way up to our tanks and helicopters. And I can will tell you that it takes about 5-7 gallons of diesel just to turn on the PowerPack (diesel engine turbine w/ allison transmission) in the Abrams tank, and about another 3-5 just to turn it off. Plus the 1/2 mile per gallon you burn while doing close to 57 mph, in a 70 ton beast that can hit a watermelon two miles away on the move. Man forget my LMM duramax, I want my 1800 horsepower, diesel turbine w/ allison tranny back.

Diesel has been going down quite a bit in Southern California for the last 3 weeks or so. From a bit over $3.00/gallon to $2.75 yesterday.

Near Columbus Texas there is a Shell station that has held diesel at $ 2.59/gal. for almost a full year now, well actually since march of 06.

The military does use a tremendous amount of fuel. However, it is a very small percentage when compared fuel used by the homefront for commercial and consumer purposes. Also, it impacts local fuel pricing very little, if at all. Fuel for military use is procured locally, in this case, Kuwait and SA, among others. We don't currently ship or divert US oil/fuel allotments into the current theater. Tax money pays for it, and we pay the tax, but the reality is, the military is paying pennies on the dollar for fuel compared to what we pay at home. Actually, it is cheaper on fuel when the military is operating in the oil rich countries. They are currently paying less than $.50 a gallon.

There's only one reason fuel prices are what they are now. Because they can.

    Very true DmaxMaverick,

I was just pointing out the great power of diesel, how a whole force can sustain itself so long as they have it. Diesel innovation is only going to get better within the next 2-3 years. The military/governments have always been a pusher for more advancements in technology.
