Anybody know what the minimum oil pressure should be on a Dmax. Mine at idle is two marks above the two red lines.

Inspector, my gauge reads 40#'s at idle, will peg at 80#'s on acceleration, and stays between 70 & 80#'s while cruising. What grade oil are you using? Also, synthetics seem to run a slightly lower pressure than regular oil. DinoMax :D :D

My gauge use to read between 40 and 50 warmed up at idle and between 70 and 80 when driving. Three months ago I noticed that at idle after I had driven about 20 miles or so was at 30 and even into the low 20's on occasion. During normal driving it's still between 70 and 80. I did an oil analysis last week with AV lube and everything came back fine. Don't know if it is the gauge, the sending unit or if it's the actual pressure. Sorry if I added confusion to your question. Cold starts and driving pressure is usually high, 70-80. Warm and idling I'm not sure. Hope it helps.

Hi Inspector, My pressures at normal operating temp: '01 60 idling 80 running down road
'02 40 idling 70 running down road
'03 Couple marks above red idling 60 running down road. Several have mentioned that they note idling pressures a couple of marks above red with their '03 models.

Thanks for the replys. It had seemed to me that the idle oil pressure was higher than that just last week. Now all of a sudden it is lower. It runs around 60 under load.
I wonder what has been changed to allow the oil pressure to run so low. Maybe Dmaxallitech can give us some insight.

Hey their INSPECTOR guy, me and T.J. was cruzin in a 2004 DURAMAX from Sheridan Motor this afternoon and the oil pressure was 2 or so lines above the red after it had warmed up at idle. About 25psi.

GM changed the oil pressure gauge in 03-04.
