First I'd like to thank the gang at Edge for putting on the event. They had nothing short of a small army of employees (some temps.) on hand at the events. This was no minor expense/event and near as I could tell, all company management right up to the CFO were on hand for the entire events as well! It was really nice to put faces with the people I've dealt with via telephone for some time now.
I'd also like to thank MP and Tough Guy (aka Big Gay Chris) along with all of the participating members/vendors for their misc contributions whether it was just showing up to support the event, cooking, or food/condiments etc. Denny (our fearless leader) always got us where we were going (eventually) even if it took an extra mile or two of driving to find our destination! :D
Brandon, Buck (Brandon's friend), Elaine and Myself spent the am Friday at Edge and got a private/personal "Presidential" tour by Edge President Tom Carlin himself while plant operations were still in process! We also got a brief ride in Tom's truck with the new A2 demo! Yes the unit DOES exist, and it's pretty sweet. There's a few details to iron out yet so we couldn't get a beta unit, but suffice to say it is pretty darn neat as a GPS (with audio) or as an Attitude controller. There is even a simple menu of vehicle types so that the unit is universal among "Juice compatible" vehicles regardless of brand or engine series.
Friday aft it decided to rain and hail slopping up our freshly washed trucks, but at least the hail didn't do any damage. The race track crew organization/track prep did not exactly do Edge any justice, but I am sure that Edge will lay down the law for next years event and make it even better. By the time we got in the gates, and unloaded the Tech lines were about 15 deep each so we had very limited test time to get dialed in. In hindsight, I should have left the LLY tied to the trailer and focused on the LB7 which was my main entry. My best ET was a 12.6 at 111+ and this was with a TCM that was pretty severely "shell shocked" by the instant addition of well over 250 RWHP via nitrous.
Saturday saw LONG lines of trucks waiting for the dynos. Many of the guys in the 400+ line were simply in the wrong line, but I'd guess they've never been humbled by the dyno before. What struck me was the number of trucks that just plain rolled smoke at idle and of course were left to run most all day in anticipation of their dyno run that was coming up in a few hours. Myself, I left mine run most of the day too, but that is because I drained my batteries overnight and had to get jump started just to get in line for the event. Results will be posted in the not too distant future, but I witnessed Brandon run 650.8HP and 1328.5TQ, Motovet ran 479.5HP and 982TQ I ran 725.8HP and 1373.8TQ. MP's little red truck was at 509HP IIRC.
Sunday at the campground was also a decent turnout. Aaron and Cody from Edge stopped out for our vendor meet at the pavilion and we had a general BS-fest in the parking area afterwards with Greg Landuyt's, MP's, Brandon's and My trucks on hand as well as Edge's 2006 (stock) Dmax being available for test drive.
Over 3k miles logged for us including local driving to/from events etc. resulted in 10-11 mpg (unofficial estimate based on non metered aux tank) for the LLY pulling the trailer/truck most everywhere we went...
