My local Chevy dealer called me today, & said that GM is now accepting LBZ orders. I drove an '06 LLY with the 6-speed Allison. Very nice. Now I can't wait to drive an '06 with the LBZ.

They can't employ "Torque management" with the manual trans.

they dont need to with juice ;) Like the lly with the current 5 speed auto the peek power may only be on tap in 2nd 3rd, 4th gear.... 1st and 5th cant handle all the power!

Here are the specs for the 2006 Powerstroke according to The official Ford website:
325 hp @ 3,300 rpm
570 lb-ft of torque @ 2,000 rpm
Here are the 2006 Cummins Numbers from the official Dodge website:
610 pounds-feet of torque at 1,600 RPM
325 horsepower at 2,900 RPM

I think GM is probably using engine dyno figures, not RW figures. Remember they said the LB7 was 300 hp when in fact only pulled about 240-250 RWHP, in the real world. I wouldn't get too excieted about the numbers until someone actually rear wheel tests some of them.

All advertised HP numbers from the manufacturers are at the crankshaft...not at the rear wheels. Chassis dyno numbers measured at the wheels will be lower. However, 360 HP and 650 lb-ft at the crank is huge...especially compared to the competition! ;)
I think Ford is really F'ed by this. They invested in tooling up for the torque shift tranny as opposed to out sourcing, so it think it would cost them quite a bit to change it to a six speed, which GM has already done. Now they are blown out of the water in HP/TQ. It will be very interesting to see how they respond. I think they got some serious cost constraints here.
Is 650lb-ft available in all gears (or at least in 2-5)?

I read the specs. in the web site shown above and unless I am really confused it showed 6 qts. of oil on the new engine. Can this be correct?
Jim
Looks like all of the lubricating capacities are screwed up.
