I've been hanging around, listening to you guys with the Duramax and finally decided to jump in and order one. Back in '01 I had one on order and waited almost 8 months before I settled on an 8.1 from stock. I have to say the 8.1 is a great engine. I've towed a 30 foot travel trailer on flat Ohio roads and extreme West Virginia mountain county roads. At one point in WV, the road was sooo steep, I was in first gear with the go pedal almost to the floor. I had to sit up straight to see over the hood and watch the tranny temp rise too fast for comfort. Been there, done that, I'll go around next time. One road was signed up with a 10% grade, it was mild compared to the really steep back road. Towing MPG averaged 8.8 for a 3,300 trip from MA to KY. Given my time with the 8.1, I can recommend it as a solid workhorse.
However, I still longed for the diesel and finally walked down the isle and signed the P&S for a new one. Tell me if this is unusual, P&S signed on 3/8, dealer calls 3/11 with SON saying truck was selected for production and the TPW is 3/17. Is this possible? Or, is my chain being yanked?
On Order: 2003 GMC Sierra K3500 SLT Ext Cab D/A
