owning a diesel truck how people that do not have one or ever have, seem to think you are rich or something...The jealousy factor? Just what is it?

I get that attitude all the time ever since I bought this AWSOME Truck...they didn`t seem to care much when I had a Fully Loaded 2000 Z71..

Paindude,

I think you have been sniffing to many paint fumes :D

Compare the window of your new ride to your 2K Z71  Are not some of those D/A going for over 44K?

Maybe that is why they think your rich

I own a noisy Dodge so I never have that problem ;)

I know when I with my dad in his 03 GMC D/A people seem to come out of the wood work to ask him about milage and how he likes it.

You post just proves my point...

So if I drive a car that cost 25000 dollars instead of one that cost 15000 dollars I would be in the same category? Do people think this way when you have a 125,000 $ home and they only have a 100,000$ home?

Maybe I just do not realize what a good deal I got when I traded..

Now if I buy a few horses and a new Low Rider Springer I will be set....

I think that when you break the $40k threshold....that is the difference between being in tall cotton, or being in the mud,....you know what I mean???

If you bought you Dmax for 25K you got a good deal!

There is a big difference, percentage wise, between a truck that cost 25K and one that cost 40-45K. Especially in monthly payments for 3-5 years. (with normal down payments) If you can plunk down 40K for a vehicle and have no payments.....you probably are "rich" or just one the lotto.

A home is something that is usually payed for over a longer period of time say, 15-30 year.

Hopefully your home appreciates unlike a vehicle.

I guess the 40 grand mark is the area..I do have the title to my Dmax..No payments is real nice..I never pay interest on depreciating items..Real Estate is money in the bank..

My Z71 stickered for 33,000$ and they gave me 29,000 for it on trade..Then took the rebates off of the new truck,etc..It was a good deal..

Hay Paintdude,
$125,000 for a house maybe I need to move out of Ca. A small 2 bed 1 bath 1000 sf. stuco box sell for about $500.000 in my naborhood. My new truck cost me $38,000. Mabe you might know how much $$$ a carpenter would make in your area? I might just have to move.
Thanks Bill

I notice a different problem, a lack of respect. If you were driving a BMW 5 series or a Mercedes E class, people respect your car. Driving my truck, which costs just as much, people don't seem to respect it as much - they'll lean against it, look at you funny when you complain about it and say stupid things like - its just a truck,etc.... When I was driving my 5 series, people treated it with more respect, go figure...

Bill, union carpenters make close to 60 grand around here..Plenty of homes available,too..A real nice new home is about 250,000...

Maybe it is cost of living..It is cheap to live around here but, these vehicles cost the same everywhere..

I must be rich.... :D

We had a similar discussion at my Firehouse a while ago when another member who sells insurance got a Mercedes wagon. Everyone busted his stones about it and then he pointed to my truck and said that I probable paid as much or more for it. But, a pickup is different.

I heard on the radio the other day, that Dr. Phil pays $20,000 a month for rent on a condo. I guess that makes him, Either rich, Stupid, or both, rich and stupid ;)

My Pontiac gets more attention (when it's on the road) then my truck will ever get everybody wants to know how much hp etc etc. I paid $1,800 for it 7 years ago, but I did put a  "little" into the drive train. So if you want a little "Positive" attention rebuild an old clunker.

I love it when those guys that own other trucks see you pull into the store & the first thing they say..."Must be Nice".... and I say..The BMW needs a rest once in a while! :D

As with almost anything, most people react without even thinking. This mental awareness hurts themselves, the rest of us, the economy, and life in general.

We have an older Mercedes that costs 1/3 what our truck costs. My wife can drive past a dork in a full-size brand new diesel pickup and all he has to offer is the "rich-bitch" comment. He could trade his truck in for 3 of those cars but he's too stupid to understand that.

Of course those ex-supermodels do attract a bit of attention anyway. But that's not my point.

Oh well.

So, I could really p*ss off everyone even more around here If I got my Red 70 Firebird out of storage and started driving it everyday, again(they all think I sold that car years ago)? I think my diesel loader tractor kind of gets them mad also..

Well at least I can say no one have given me anything but a rough time.. :D
