keep my 01 or buy 02?

how it going everyone? I may trade my 01 D/A and 99 Jetta VR6 for a 02 D/A 2500HD C/C S/B. The truck has 19,000 miles and they want want $35,900which means $900 Plus my truck and car. Good deal?

Wondering when I test drove this one seemed to stay in O/D when floored better than mine,is there any difference in programming on the 02's/

I am trying to convince my significant other that this makes sense becase I wont have Insurance on the car and will save$$$

The transmission coding is different on the '02...and hanging on to O/D better is the major feature of the change.

That '02 you're looking at must be mighty fine, 'cause they want more for it now than mine cost with 3 miles on it, including tax and excluding my rebates and trade :eek: I know mine is the frugal man's special, with no Allison or 4WD, but my point is you should be able to get into a brand new truck for less $$$ ...I paid about $9,000 less than you are talking about, and that amount includes tax and was final before my trade was mentioned.

I paid about $36,000. for my 03 D/A brand new. Mine was a fully loaded LS with rear seat entertainment system, 6 CD changer. I would negotiate that price down several thousand before I would even consider it.

I guess its hard for me to comment on this, since I get a pretty good discount for dealer employee, My truck stickered at 47,100 and I got if for 37,900 with no trade. Fully loaded LT. Has everything but the rear seat entertainment, which I have to question, cause soon after getting truck found out wife was pregnant?! oh well. Enough about me, 35,900 seems high, we just sold an 01 excab with 45k on it for 25,900. Might better shop a little before commitment

Thank for the replies. I decided to keep my 01 and my jetta as they only offered me $34,500 for both my cars and would not move on the 02 Dmax price. My question to any of you that have had upgrades done is how do you get the 01' to hold O.D. Like the 02? i had the original Cruise control upgrade done, which only helps when the cruise is on. My truck must be set up to race because it downships in any gear under about a quarter throttle. The 02 I could floor at 50 and the O.D. would hold, whats the difference and can I get it fixed?
