Oil Change

I just purchased a 2005 GMC 2500HD Duramax and got rid of 2003 Ford F-250 PS and I have always changed my oil with the Rotella 15W-40 at 5000 miles. The GMC manual says I should wait until the information cluster tells me to change my oil. I was wondering if this is wrong and I should still change every 5000 or what. Any help would be appreciated. :cool:

I have a 04.5 and I change it every 5000 and pull a oil sample old habits die hard . This way I know what is going on inside the engine .
