If you remember, last year a guy posted some questions for us on increasing the power of his 6.2 hummer that was for an "robotic vechicle" challenge race in the desert...

While none of the entries finished the race, the hummer (know as "Sandstorm") got 7 miles before making a wrong move and getting high-centered on an embankment. This was the farthest any vehicle had gotten.

No word on how the 6.2 held up, though

Tim Are there any write ups or pictures of the race?

I tried to post a direct link to a page, but something wouldn't let me.

Check out

http://www.newscientist.com

there is a link on that page to the story under "Desert challenge too tough for robot racers"

Or go to Google.com Enter 'darpa challenge sandstorm' and click the news tab for a whole slew of articles.

For info on the Sandstorm Hummer itself go to

Thanks for the links. I remember when the guy came on here asking questions and me thinking, "what the hecks a robotic race". Makes for good reading, extremely cool stuff!
