I had 15000 dusty miles on my amsoil air filter so I cleaned and re-oiled on saturday. My question is how much oil do you guys use out of the 6 or 8 ounce bottle that came with it. When I removed the filter the bottom of the air box had quite a bit of oil from the filter that had dripped down. I don't want to use to much or especially not enough.

I'm in the same boat. Greg says to squrit about a third of a bottle and Kneed it through out the filter. I was concerned about fowling the sensor inside the clean air tube (the one a few inches up the tube...) but hasn't happened.
I'd rather have a little in the bottom of the air box than dry spots in the foam.

1/3 to 1/2 bottle is all thats needed. If you don't have any oil in the bottom of the air box then you did not use enough.

That oil in the box is a gravity thing . :D
But what happens if excess oil collects on the MAF sensor? How would you clean it?

Can you use the old dirt bike trick?.... Liberal spray with the product "PJ1" onto the foam Amsoil air filter, place the whole thing into a large zip plastic bag, then knead and squeeze the PJ1 material throughly into the filter, keeps the crap off of your hands, save the bag with the residue oil in side for the next job. This works well on all of my ATVs and dirt bikes exposed to much more particulate then the average D-Max.

Greg,
Does the new filter you ship have 1/3-1/2 bottle of oil on it or should we add additional oil?
thanks,

When I installed my Amsoil air filter, I was instructed to take rags and kneed the filter to remove the excess oil. I must have done something right, cause I haven't set any codes yet.

Not really sure how much oil comes on it from the factory. But it is a good idea to just lightly go over it with a paper towl.

I guess I should have know to use a towel, but I didn't. I just pulled it out of the box and installed it. Do I need to pull it back out and work the sponge then towel it off? It didn't set off any codes.
thanks,
Danny
