I know its late, but I need some help....

I was sitting in the driveway ready to pull away, and I noticed that the ignition was sticky. I giggled the shifter around and tried again. Now the shifter moves between P and 1st with ease...problem...I dont have the key in. The truck still knows it is in park but all the other gears feel like neutral...it rolls down the driveway. Does anyone know how the column works exactly, or should I just get the beast towed to the stealer.

sounds like a nbsu switch.....I would call a wrecker...........what year truck?...the 01's had some issues there..........dave
