Had to go out of state for a Funeral this week.
I encountered everything from dry roads (driving 75 mph), too 9" of snow (towing my inlaws mini van through the mountains) to 1/2" of ice and 40-50 mph winds, And 35 miles in the Funeral percession at 20-25 mph. Temps ranged from a high of 35* to a low of 8*
Over all the truck and Duramax/Allison worked great. 19.95 mpg and 45.3 mph for the trip.
I thought that was pretty good. Had a 2 hour delay while a rock slide was cleaned up in the mountains (Pine Mountain)
Myself, wife, and two kids plus suit cases. ( maybe 650# total)was all we carried.
First tank of fuel we went 517 miles and used 23.178 galons to fill up. (all good dry roads, and four lane at 75 mph ) For a 22.3 mpg average. ( best I have got so far.) The second tank wasn`t so good. All the snow, ice, wind, towing van, Funeral, and some stop&go traffic in town on this tank full.
367 miles on 22.1 galons of fuel for an average of 16.6 mpg. I havin`t filled up with the last 79 miles.
But great trip considering the reason.
