From the link Mackin posted about the Allison the ticking is the valves in the Allison moving. Does anyone have a ticking D-max 6 speed?

I think the ticking that is referred to in the paper is the mechanical click that one hears when one puts their Allison into park. I think you may be referring to the infamous clicking sound eminating from the Duramax. Many posts on that one... just use search ;)
