I managed to cut my post OEM Racor 660 open
today without destroying it. I think it looks pretty good for having 12K on it. I took quite a few photos. Who would like them? I would like to attach one if someone would send me blow
by blow directions. Thanks. Later! Frank

Frank,

I'd like to see your pictures. You have my email address, send away.

I ordered the "Mdrag special" Tavia filter cutter a couple of days ago from Summit Racing. Going to take apart a Racor R45 filter that I have laying around (got tired of using the hacksaw). On a visual inpection from the outside, it looks to be of higher quality than the OEM. Just curious what lurks inside.

If you want to actually post a picture here, it is a little more difficult than at the Diesel Place. However, it can be done. Reference this post:

Frank,

I found all of your photos for mounting your
post OEM Racor under the hood. Very nice
install..... very different.

I suspect that you could go 20,000 miles on
a post OEM filter as you have removed most
of the stones, pebbles and sand with the primary factory
filter.

Sure wish we had reliable data on Racor post OEM
fuel filtration testing.

For those who have not keep up with this string.... the best Racor filtration results come
with a pre OEM 2 micron filter.

The results which can be viewed as a PDF file at:

I am beginning to see a pattern on the fuel analysis reports. I am throughly convinced that the guys that have the best fuel numbers did a lot of extra work to ensure they got a clean sample. Just look at A Bear's and OC_Dmax's method along with their numbers. I am going to take another sample shortly using a combination of those two methods. In retrospect, it makes me wonder if should not have a few more OEM samples to compare with. I have posted a few more photos of my post OEM Racor this morning. After looking at my cutaway several times I have formed several opinions of my own. (1) The OEM is catching, by far, most of the particles. (2) My 660 could easily go 20K and maybe more. (3) The fuel in my area is pretty good. (4) Last but not least, I don't see any evidence that being mounted on the engine is a problem. I might have to eat crow if my next report is bad. It sure is easy to change and out of harms way where it is. Later! Frank
