Misfire

My neighbor has an '01 D/A at about 92,000 miles. He's been getting a backfire, loss of power and black smoke at highway speed. Put it in neutral, gas it, put it back in drive, and it's fine again. He had an error code indicating #5 cyl misfire. Dealer replaced one bank of injectors last week. Still doin' it.
Anyone else with this problem?

Probaly not the cause, but if they did not investigate programming updates, it would be a good idea. There have been updates for msifire detection.
