What does the factory snow plow set up consist of? On the GM webste it states it can not be added to a truck that didn't have it installed at the factory. Is this true?

on a 2500 hd with a duramax not much.... mostly heavy duty front springs, maybe a higher rated charging system?

From what I can see, the things you get from the factory are, Pre-cut hole in firewall(for cables and controls), higher weight rated torsion bars, and higher amperage alternator. Other than warranty issues for NOT having snow plow prep, I came to the conclusion it won't hurt the vehicle. The only problem being, is most snow plow installers WON'T install a plow on a NON snow plow preped vehicle. Easiest way around that is just to install it yourself. Thats what i'm gonna do. Thats what I did on the last 2 trucks I had plows on.
