Does anyone know if the Chevy/GMC Tahoe Sport (2door) came with a 6.5 TD as an option. THat would be a fun truck.

Yes. But......
It was never built for delivery in the US. There are several in Europe and South America.
That would be a fun vehicle. I love my '85 Blazer (although the '01 gets most of the attention lately). I am looking at installing a 6.5 TD in it when I do the total restoration in the next couple years.

Read my signature and would have answered your question.
Was manufactured from 1994 to 1999

In the US a Diesel was available on the full-size Blazer in 1994, and then the renamed Tahoe begining in 1995. The 2 dr Tahoe AKA Full-size Blazer was never available with the Sport Decor Package. The Sport Decor Package was only available on the Gas versions in the US since 1993 I believe. Have no clue about outside of the US
Yes, in GM brillance the 2 door had the diesel option but not the 4 door.

I have a '94 Yukon 4X4 with the 6.5TD. It gets a lot of comments as most people have no idea that such a combo exists. As I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong here) The 2DR Yukon/Tahoe was the only half ton truck in which you could get the diesel option. If only it were an L65 without the #$%^&** EGR stuff.

What kind of fuel mileage are you guys getting with the Blazer/Yukon? Are they 4WD?

hey dstoops-
i get about 19-20 mpg on highway at 70ish mph. would probably get 21 at 55 is i could ever drive that slow
where are you in indiana? you are welcome to check mine out if you are close. or even if you are not i suppose
also-
the 6.5 was available in 1500 series trucks, suburbans and tahoes/blazers as the lower powered egr equipped L56 motor.
it is the same motor as the L65 'HO' engine except for some additional EPA mandated features necessary because of the lower GVWR on the 1500 trucks that 8600# and higher GVWR trucks do not have to meet
these features are easily removed/bypassed and with progamming for a late-model L65 or aftermarket program from Heath or Westers (among others) can be made to run great
i like the fact that my little tahoe has the same powertrain as my 15000GVWR 3500HD dumptruck. no wonder it never feels like it is working. it just lopes along all relaxed at about any speed you care to go

Thanks Matt,
I'm between Ft. Wayne and Goshen on US 33. I'm thinking of looking at the Tahoe/Blazer when it's time to replace my Jeep G. Cherokee V-8. (17 mpg tops)!

MPG would, of course, depend on your rear axle ratio. My '94 Blazer 6.5TD (233K miles) has the 3.73 diff, and I get 17-19 mpg, as much as 20, depending on speed, etc. I think I've read from 3.42 ratio 6.5TD owners who get in the low to mid 20s. YMMV. ;)
Hey, those with 99 vintage 2-door Tahoes, do you have the 4wd shifter on the floor or push-button 4wd selector?
I'm planning to look for a 99 2-door Tahoe sometime soon (probably a gasser, since I can't find any good diesel service around my area of NJ <sigh>) and I'm of the opinion that simpler is better for longevity, and this is a critical area - when I need/want 4wd, I don't want to wonder if the electrics/vacuum/whatever are going to work.

mine is 3.73 with locker and every option known to man including the auto4wd
it works great but i have never been able to get 4lo to engage.
i got it used last summer with about 48k on it. drove it back from oregon and now has about 55k on it
i thought about going with a 350 gasser too but decided against it. don't like the lack of torque and all the revs when towing. bet it wouldn't get over 15ish with 3.73s either
