Here is some data that I compiled on towing with my truck using the Superchips 95 hp setting.

My truck:
2003 Chevy 2500HD CC SWB Duramax Allison

Towing my 2001 Wildcat 27RK 5th wheel (8,500-9,000 lbs ready to go)
High Performance (95 hp) Setting:
9/22/03
90 deg F., Cloudy and humid, 35 mile round trip

Stopped in drive = 450 F (after 10 miles of towing)
Cruising at 65 mph (flat ground) = 900 F
Full throttle take off 0-70 mph (up hill) = 1,375 F max.
Moderate hill

cdhd,

We towed to Utah from San Antonio this summer (13500# 5th wheel). Top EGT with the Juice in level 2 was 1287 and that was on a mother of a hill. Most of the time the EGTs were around 750 -900 when crusing, even up long but modest grades. Cruised at 70 whenever we could(most of the time). Didn't have any defueling problems. After all the reading I have done of various posts on this issue I think 1350 would be max and for only a brief time. The big issue is how hot your EGTs are without the chip (and in the right gear) and where you are pushing it to with the chip. It is all about durability in my view. I could drop the EGTs by several hundred degrees if I turned the juice off and let the allison find the right gear. That said I didn't want all the sift busy-ness. How much stress is an 200 extra degrees all day long? And how much higher is too much?

Good luck,
Bob
