Engine revs when shifting into reverse

Twice in one week, stop to park the truck shift from OD to R and the engine shoots two quick revs. Anyone else ever had this happen? Any clues?

This response is of no help to you, but is in response to your first question (yes, something simmilar has happened to me)

About 4 times now in 9 months since owning a 1994 Chev with 6.5 L TD, I have shifted from part to reverse and had a sudden power/RPM "surge".

On one occasion I was lining up the boat and lucky I was far enough away...

No idea what cause it, have not seen this discussed in any previous post.

P.S. hasn't happened to me now in quite some time.

Yes, I've experienced the "Reverse Surge" at a very irregular frequency. Happened a long time ago, then disappeared, and just happened last week one time. Strange. I hate things that don't fit a pattern. Hard to diagnose.

Anybody??
