Great oil for your Duramax at a great price!

I have been using Rotella T Synthetic 5/40 for about a year now and really like it. I was using Mobil Delvac 1 but it is a little too pricey for my taste. Rotella can be found at Wal-Mart for $12.84 per gallon.

Good to hear you've had good luck with Rotella T synthetic. Just did my first oil change and that's what I used. All my gas burners use Mobil 1 but I wasn't able to find any for diesel applications. Hopefully the Rotella T synthetic is good stuff.

I think its good stuff, easier cold starts, and the oil looks cleaner longer.

I've been using it for the last 40,000+ miles. Truck starts much easier when the temps are below zero. No complaints.

The only thing that turned me off from Rotella Synthetic is that it is not CI-4 rated. Funny, the regular Rotella is CI-4. I have been told that CI is important for the new electronic injected and exhaust gas recirculated motors.
Mobil one makes a Truck/SUV 5W40 oil with a yellow cap that is available from Wal Mart etc. It is CI-4 rated and the tech sheet on the Mobil Website is exactly the same as Mobil Delvac 1. What do you guys think? It the CH-4 / CI-4 that much of a difference?

I have used this Rotella for several years now in 5 differant Duramax's. Nothing but good. 10,000 miles between changes TOWING. My 01 had 175,000 miles on it when an injector change caused a head replacement. Dealer mechanic was impressed with condition of engine. He now recomends this oil to oyher people.

The Rotella 5W40 is CI-4 rated. You can find this on their web site.

Apparently the new containers will carry this label in January. I guess it may take a while for them to filter into the stores as well. This information was from another forum.
