OIler cooler lines thread size

I am getting ready to replace my leaky oil cooler lines. Have the capabilities to fab my own lines at work out of braided stainless w/crimped ends. before I start, I wanted to be sure I had all the right sizes lined up and ready. The truck is a '95, 6.5TD.

Thanks If you read another thread regarding cooler line size, prior to 97 the 4L80E trans used a 5/16 line. After that they switched to the bigger 3/8" lines.

Nope, no help. looking for engine oil cooler line fittings. Sorry, I should have been more specific.

yours should be 1/2" pipe. 97 up got bigger for the oil spray blocks and HO oil pump.

Hey there Mr. Miller
I was thinking of doing the exact same thing with my lines. Was underneath last night changing oil and noticed that the lines were slobbering.
You are talking about stainless braid hose with the teflon lining? If you are, could you send me a list of what you used. It would make my the job a whole lot faster if I could get the supplies bought before I took it all apart if you know what I mean :D

1/2" pipe with AN 8 lines without using the oil warmer in the radiator. Aftermarket oil coolers of ample size can be bought for under $100.

Not all true, its been about half and half on this. In fact many of the 97's with 1/2" lines have the 1/2" NPT in the block for the bigger lines. Anyone that calls and wants a set for the 97 I always have them measure what they have so we can send the right ones.

Greg's right. I crawled under at lunch to re-ssess what I have. I do have the 1/2"NPT threads in the block, and as per what Greg told me over the phone, 3/8" NPT in the cooler. I am removing the original; o-ring pilot fittings from the block and replacing with pipe to JIC 90. The cooler end of the hose will be a crimp to 3/8"NPT swivel fitting and JIC on the block end. all tubing is going to be 3/8" ID Parker flex. not going with the teflon, mainly due to cost, and the fact that a kink in the teflon line is a death blow. I do to much off roading to take a chance. I try and get a list of all part numbers together and posted here once I order everything.

OK, part numbers as promised. These are all Parker numbers

3/8"NPT to -6(3/8")hose 11343-6-6 (2 used)

1/2" NPT to 3/8" JIC elbow 2103-8-6 (2 used)

-6 crimp TO 3/8" JIC straight 10643-6-6(2 used)

8' of No-Skive 421-6 hose

Or just replace the hose and crimp with STEEL crimp sleeves. The only real problem with these lines so long as they don't rub is that the aluminum crimps loosen up. If a guy is careful, he can cut off the old crimp, split the hose, and replace without incident...
