hard start timing ?

i have ahard start first time in the morning or after work in after noon.a lot of white smoke smells like fuel,it has new injectors,lift pump,pmd,hi po chip, and timing is set at -1.94 she runs great after it warms up also new glow plugs and controller. any thoughs out there.

Most hard cold starts can be attributed to the glow plugs. Chances are, yours are AC 60g's which I have found degrade starting performance. The plugs that I offer should take care of this if this is the case.

A quick fix to try is to unplug the ECT sensor prior to starting and then plug it back in once it has fired.

glow plugs are bosch 9ag's seems like it got harder to start after timing was advanced to -1.94
Yes i also unhooked the ect no differance going to try to find some one in chgo. to reset it back a bit maybe -1.75 to -1.50

You might check to see if the glow plugs are getting power. Simple check is to watch the battery guage on dash. When you turn the switch on to let the plugs warm up, does the needle move up and down? Just a simple check. Tells me the controller is working and plug pulling power. If not then most likely plugs not warming up at all. Good luck.

glow plugs check out ok. after it starts alot of noise and stumble once warm it runs great

you could be geting air in the fuel system when it sits for a long time. check all lines and return lines you might be losing prime. do you have crank alot to get it started?

yes it cranks for ever. sometimes it hesitates like bad starter or advanced timing.

may have found my hard start problem. bad batteries and alternator.thanks for the help guys , i will give it a try for a few days.

Yes, cranking speed is VERY critical for clean starts.
