We are putting together a reasonable priced (under $50) diesel fuel test package that should be on www.avlube.com/ in the next several weeks. The test will report Cetane Index, water in PPM (Karl Fischer)(as opposed to just percentage), dirt and contaminants reported as ISO for 5, 10, and 15 micron gradients. (the 7 micron particle in the key fuel system destroyer)
Most fuel analysis packages are very expensive primarily due to the amount of lab technician time required to run fuel tests. Oil tests are just about totally automated and run in large batches. Fuel testing is individual tests run by a human being.
I have run several fuels including BP diesel supreme and will post the results for these shortly. I think it will be of great value to determine if one really is getting "premium", clean, dry diesel fuel and then being able to purchase from that source with confidence.
