When`s GM/Isuzu uping production on the D-max?

The new Duramax Diesel 6600 engine has received rave reviews by the automotive press as it significantly outperforms its competitors. We look forward to getting these new trucks with the Duramax Diesel 6600 engine in the hands of our dealers and customers." Start of production is a key step in the evolution of DMAX which will have approximately 400 employees producing over 100,000 engines a year in phase one and with increased market demand, has the potential capacity to produce approximately 200,000 units and employ 700 people in phase two.

What I want to know is where is the other 100,000 D-max engines? The way they sell, GM should have them in Vans, Suburbans, and building more 2500HD/3500`s.

I saw a GMC 4500 Dump Truck with the Duramax Sat. at the dealers. Awesume looking truck. So that is where some are going.

From what I heard the Dmax plant hasnt even shut down since the start. I dont think they can keep up with demand very well. Correct me if im wrong the only time I heard of the Dmax plant shutting down except for all the UAW holidays, was when a shipment of parts to the plant were brought to the wrong engine plant. I belive that theres 100,000 dmaxs out there, but totally off the subject I was reading an article from Dodge that said over 75 percent of their full size trucks are Cummingsapart engines. Now that I DONT believe.

I can believe that % on the Dodge trucks. I work next door to the Dodge truck plant in St. Louis. I see lots and lots of of Dodge diesels. I'm not sure if they're made there, but lots of the employees drive 'em.

I stand out really well in that crowd.

Funny thing is it seems like its the v8 magnum powered ones that want to prove something, not the diesels.

I believe the article you quoted actually said that 75% of 2500 and 3500 Dodge trucks are 4x4s, and that 70% of 2500 and 3500 Dodge trucks are built with the Cummins diesel engine. That is less than 70% of full size Dodge trucks though, because the full size 1500 trucks do not have a diesel option.

I've read that Dodge does put a Cummins engine in 70% of their 2500 & 3500 trucks, and I fully believe it. Ford puts PSD in 70% of their Super Duties too.
Now I don't know if it's that the engine plant can't keep up. Or is it the fact that GM is getting too much competetion from the 8.1 gas? I mean Ford & Dodge offer a V10 but are they really any match for the 8.1? It's about half DMax's in my area. 1/3 8.1s and 1/6 6.0s.

There are some people that just can't let go of a gas burner.

I talked to a fellow that was pulling a big Montana 5th wheel with a 8.1 and he just loved it.

After making one long trip pulling with a diesel, I wondered why anyone would want to pull with a gas burner.

I had to refuel my gas burner 6 times between Oklahoma and Talladega, AL. My diesel could have made it on one refill. I refilled twice and had almost a full tank when I arrived.
