Fuel filter from AC-Direct???

[Diesel Duck]

I just got my '03 Chevy D/A last week & thought I'd stock up on filters from AC-Direct. The part number for the fuel filter shown in the diesel supplement is 97256734. However, the search feature doesn't work for this number. Any ideas???

Diesel Duck, Letsgo has the right idea for waiting for what happens with the new fuel filter saga, but, in the mean time it's a good itea to keep one of each filter spare in your truck. That's what I do anyway. It would really su*k if you were out in the middle of no where with a bad batch of fuel in your tank, fuel filter clogs up or something and Johnny mechanic says, " these are one of them new diesel trucks, I'll have to ORDER a new filter, could take a few days". Believe me, Murphy's law is always hanging out for the ill prepared. That's when you would pull out a spare from behind you seat and say "here ya go". Try gmpartsdirect.com They may be a bit more for shipping but that's where I got mine, $27 and some change US. Hope it helps.

Does anybody know for shure the direction of flow in fuel filter? Does the fuel flow into the center go through the filter media and out of the sides or, in the sides and out the middle?

Flow is from outside to center. Thats how we can see all the gunk it catches on the surface when it is opened. (very educational to look at it)

I have been using the AC PF2232 from the start on my 01. Now that I have the 03 duramax I have been using the same AC filter. Dont let anyone sell you one at a much higher price. You can buy these all day long at Murry's or Autozone for $3.75 each. I have 10 of them currently. :rolleyes:

I've got a WIX filter on mine. Got it at the farm supply store near my cousin's house in BFE Mississippi. Seems to be doing fine for me.

Remember guys, as the Toddster put it,"dude, that's the oil filter." PF 2232 is the oil filter not the fuel filter. Neither AC nor Wix currently make a fuel filter for the DMAX. The only manufacturer I believe is RACOR. Just want to make sure we're all on the same page.

RACOR is the OEM for the Duramax fuel filter. If you buy a WIX, AC, Baldwin ect, you are still buying a RACOR filter. The only difference is the price and I think you'll find that the RACOR's are the least expensive. I got mine from DIS for about $17.50.
