I am fixing to install a 2nd thermocouple post turbo, using the same guage & a DPDT switch to read which thermocouple I want.Anyone try this, any suggestions?Has anyone tried to move the pre thermocoupler closer to the turbo to calm down the readings a little bit.I have an old F350 w/ a banks turbo & its thermocoupe is between manifold & turbo. The readings are a lot less spikey.Worth a try.
I like the real temps coming right out of the cylinders. The spikes are true temp readings. What else do you want? False ones?
As far as mounting a probe post turbo, thats good if you want to keep an eye on your turbo exhaust flow temp for turbo protection.
You can do as many thermocouples as you want and have a bank of switches if you like. It works fine.

I would think that the resistance would change thru the switch, posssibly scewing the reading.
Better check it out first.

I've used 2 thermocouples through a switch to one guage on a motorcycle. Works great.

FWIW I smoked a turbo on the F350 because of a bad thermocouple & I don't want to go through that crap again.I tow a 10000 lb trailer alot,so I guess I,m anal about EGT.Hoot you've got some good info under your sig.
Thanks Bullseye.
Actually what you're doing is pretty smart.
