guys,

i was on ebay looking for a factory service manual for my '93 3/4 ton when i came across this 4 book factory set for a '98. thought somebody may need a set for a good price.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34216&item=2464743608

one quick question.........having a '93, although it is best to have a book for that specific year, will other years be significantly close and useful? i'm trying to find a used set opposed to buy a new helm set for $160.

thanks guys,

james

'93 was last year for DB-2 mech injection, so the '93 manual would be best for you to insure correct wiring colors and etc, and would have most of the latest upgrades and corrections over '92.

'94, of course, was first year for electronic DS-4 injection.

You'll curse yourself for not wanting to spend the $160.00 after you've acquired the set and used them. You're not doing yourself any favors. Just order them through Helm's Deep (oops, website... a little Lord of the Rings humor) and they will be at your house in a couple of days. Then you'll be glad you did.

Is this the one?

On the web site this is listed for $120 but above it's mentioned the manuals are $160. What's up?

Would be really nice if they sold this on CD. I've got the service manual for my Buick GN on CD. Print out the pages, take them to the car, get them greasy, just print out some more....

Art,

Looks right. I just quoted the price in the original post. In fact, I seem to remember paying $120.00 for my 95 set. They're worth the price either way.

James, if you have a while some of these links might be worth browsing??...

The Helm manual sets are quite good, but have mistakes . The price-per-page(or price compared to value of wasted-time/destroyed components) is very reasonable. GM hasn't found out about digital cameras yet, so all the illustrations are line drawings. The electrical diagrams and troubleshooting are outstanding, though.
Haynes publishes decent manuals, Mitchel manuals may be available in your local public library(Motor&Chilton too).
The Diesel Page 1)Removal&Replacement Guide, 2)Troubleshooting Guide, and 3)feature Article Reprints are probably the best value on a per-page basis.

Tom Mac - you say the Helm manual has good electrical wiring info and troubleshooting. could you pls look in yours and tell me if there is any good troubleshooting info for Daytime Running Lights? i have the Alldata online subscription but it doesn't have sufficient diagnostic info for DRL's. if Helm has it, i'll order the set. thx for checking.

Steve--I'll check out the basic program tomorrow, but not in depth because i'm aware of significant differences in wiring fr '94/'95....

Steve--In my '95 Helm 'Driveability, Emissions, and Electrical Diagnosis Manual', for 'Headlamps and Foglamps' there are 4 pgs diagnosis/trblshtng;1 pg circuit explanation; 2pg component locations; 3 pgs wiring..(one for mine). In same manual under 'Headlamps: Daytime Running Lamps', there are 7-1/2 pgs diagnosis/trblshtng; 1 pg circuit explanation; 2 pgs component locations; 9 pages wiring. Much more harness/design info under "Power Distribution", Fuse Block Details", Ground Distribution", for all circuits.
