I just went through the process of cleaning my Amsoil air filter. Used Simple Green and water as suggested. I let it dry a few days (I was out of town). When I got to looking at it, there is rust everywhere the foam touches the metal grid. I can see it on the edges under the foam. I imagine that the whole side touching the foam is brown.
Should I worry about this? Should I do something about it?
Thanks,
Bert

I recommend only dish soap and hot water. Simple Green is good stuff but it is high in ph and can be corrosive as you have seen. I would just wipe it off and stick it back in. How much oil did you use the re oil it? Should of used 1/3-1/2 a bottle.

I can wipe off the rust (at least some of it) on the exposed part of the metal grid under the edge of the foam. I can't get to the backside of the metal grid.
I haven't yet re-oiled anything. I was going to deal with the rust first.
Thanks,
Bert
