I was at a repo auction this morning and a 2001 2500HD CC LB 4X4 brought 26,450.00 with 35k on the odo. I thought that was pretty good since all of the stealers would only give me 22k for my 2002. How does everyone else stack-up as far as trade in goes.

Two weeks ago, I was offered 26-27,000 for my truck on trade for a leftover 2002 conversion truck which they wanted a bottom line price of 39,000, original list was 49,000. My truck has 20,000 miles on it. Needless to say, I'm keeping my truck, just can't stomach a 10,000+ loss in a 1 1/2 years.

I traded my 02' with 24k on it for my 03' truck. Both trucks are loaded to the max. The dealer gave me 33,500 for my 02' in December. I think that I got a good deal, trading with a dealer.

:D

i suppose that is true. I got it bought for under book, but these trucks are all so over priced it makes me wonder where the increase will flatten out some and keep the used prices strong.

I know exactly what y'all mean. My truck is 9 months old, 26k miles, sticker was about $41k, paid $37k. I was thinking of trading in to get a 4x4 Duramax, tired of getting stuck! Ran my book value, ouch, trade-in $27-$28k, retail $32k. I would never have though that they would have dropped in value that fast. I was thinking closer to $32k for trade in. Guess I'll just avoid the mud as much as I can!

I saw a 4x4 crew Duramax with 56k miles go for $25k on ebay a couple of weeks ago.

You are the 1st guy to say he had a 2wd duramax, what find of mileage do you get, My dad has always been curious about such apichup to pull his camper with. He don't like driving his noisy Dodge through the camp grounds and his 2 wheeler Ford won't pull his new camper in a wind.

A big problem is the resale market seems to be really flat. I've been trying to sell my '93 4x4 and hardly a nibble. With the 0% financing and big rebates lots of people are skipping the used market and buying new.

With the juice around 19 - 20 MPG, 17 - 18 MPG without the juice. Needless to say i stayed off the floor board more without the juice also.

Geez, that thing has to be a tire smoker with the juice Thought the mileage would be better but that is still real good. The truck market is definetely flat, I got a friend that owns a used car dealer and he isn't moving anything. You are right the 0% financing allows people on the edge to afford a newer vehicle so the used just sits.Bad thing is, even with low interest the payments for new are scary big.

At $1,000.00/mo. in payments 0% interest I'm just about even. The market is terrible for used right now.

See my sig for truck description...it's got 54,500 on the odometer right now. I have a friend that is a wholesaler. I approached him about a trade and he made a few calls. One guy said he'd give about $18,000 for it and another said he didn't want it. I paid $24,500 back at the end of November with 41,000 miles on it. If I would have know resale value was this crappy I wouldn't have bought the truck.

My 01 has 120,000+km on it right now - dealer told me it was worth $27,000 - I told him if that is all it is worth then I will driving the freaking wheels off it!! Truck was $50,000+ when new (Canadian) and it should NOT depreciate by 50% in less than two years!!!

I know y'all don't want to hear this, but I'm kinda glad resale on these is so poor... I can't (or won't) pay $40,000, but I sure could do $25,000! This give me hope that when I'm ready to retire the Burb, there's a chance I could step up to one of these instead of a Ford.

Of course, I'm sure I'll be thinking totally different the day AFTER I buy it.

This is kind of depressing. I was hoping that I could sell my 6-month old truck (with 5/100,000 GM extended warranty) for 35k. Numbers like these being quoted don't make it sound possible. :(

Reb., if your dealing with wholesalers they will probably give you about $4-$5k less than you can get yourself. Pull the book value on it, your probably can get close to what you paid for it. It's the guys like myself that bought new that are going to take the biggest hit! Besides I'd rather be stuck with a truck that is worth more to me than it is the public, than stuck with a truck that is worth more to the public than it is to me, if you know what I mean. I luv my truck and only reason I would part with it is to get one with 4x4.

I sure wouldn't want one of those noisy other brands that when they pull up next to you at a light you can't even here if yours is running. The only way you can tell if yours is running is to look at your tack or when the light turns green look in you rear view and if you see something far behind that looks like its competitor then you know your still running! He might be strokin but if he pulls up next to me he'll be a smokin! Anyway I didn't buy my truck to make money when I sold it I bought it to make money when I run it, and the fuel note is now higher than the truck note anyway.

The problem is supply and demand.......

Why would anyone want to finance a used truck at an interest rate other than 0% for 60 months??? If I can buy a new one at 0% for up to 60 months what is my incentive to buy a used that is almost or is already out of factory warranty and then finance it at 5-8%.

The reasons are clear to me, the market is saturated with great deals on new trucks that are heavily discounted. No incentive to buy used so supply is up and demand is down.

Capitalism works everywhere it's tried. I am not worried about my purchase, I bought at $9200.00 off of sticker with GMS Discount. I had a great trade in on my '97 and financed 22K with taxes and the only thing that I did not get was 0% because it wasn't offered the month my truck came in

Anyway, the 2003's have increased in price and have less to offer. The EGR and Cat's are a drawback. The looks, well that is personal preference.

As others have said, if the deal you got when you bought was good, who cares what you can get now. I have equity in my truck and am happy. :D

Drive it and enjoy it. You have a truck that many others envy and can't afford. Plus all the extra's these trucks have . . . . . . Juice, etc.

ya only go around once!!!!!

In an economy like the one we have now, where new car/truck dealers must write deals with large rebates and zero interest financing to stay in business, we shouldn't be surprised to see that our used trucks are bringing less on the market, too. "Consumer confidence" is now at a 10 year low point, and the public, including dealers, are hesitant to part with their cash for ANY big ticket item. It's not a situation unique to the Dmax. I don't expect that we'll see things getting much better in the near future.

Enjoy what you have now, and maintain it all well. smile.gif

1000 a month! Ouch! I would have to live in a cardboard box if my truck payment was that much. It depends alot on your area also, I got a body man friend who wanted a duramax and he found one that had a lite front hit and it sold for 22000 bucks, he was in shock. The market is saturated with trucks, and even with the 0% financing I can't afford a new one because of haveing to eat about 20000 on a car my ex was suppposed to pay for but didn't. I ain't complaining though, it was my fault things went the way they did. I Know, that is hard to believe since I am always such a happy guy on here.

Yep, when I got mine the longest term for 0% was 36 months. I put $8,500 down, and sold my Dakota on consignment. It's almost behind me now. I figured instead of loosing more in stocks, I'd eat the monthly payment. It has a bigger return than the stocks right now. I have 22 months left, and I still owe about what it's worth. I plan on keeping it for awhile, so after she's paid for, I can start putting the money else where. Nuff' of this talk huh?
