Gasoline taxes are a large part of this problem. If you have not checked your state fuel tax lately, go to the following site: http://www.gocomchek.com/gocomchek/gocomchek.nsf/FuelTaxes?OpenForm

It lists state taxes on fuel. I have and I suggest all of you write your senators and representatives regarding these taxes. If you don't know their E-Mail address do a search on your state government, find your elected officials E-Mail address and write them. Everyone complains but not to the correct people.

Micheal Tomac,
Does the name Doug Sliger ring a bell. He is a friend of mine that attends antique tractor pulls.
He pulls W/ John Deere tractors.
By the way he lives in Hammilton ,Texas and is also a DMAX fan.

the name doesn't ring a bell but I haven't pulled down in Texas. The furthest south I've been pulling is Mississippi

$1.75 isn't so bad in Big D...I did fill up for $1.70 outside of Waco, TX today.

Yes sir it is.......Four miles, price gouging at it's peak......I do not purchases from them CROOKS......That particular Mobil is at the base of an Exit ramp, route 8 north.....I can and do purchases Premium Amoco/BP for $1.89, walking distance from my house......I feel like putting up a sign "Don't pay these ridiculous Prices, drive two miles south save BIG TIME "

WOW! That's expensive.

I don't know what "today's" price is, but I paid $1.559/gallon on Friday. Hopefully, warmer weather will move in across the country and diesel prices will start dropping.

Mac,

We are getting screwed. I have been a MOBIL customer for 11 years. I buy between $400-600 a month in fuel for 3 vehicles.

I am now a CITGO cutomer. They do not import Middle East oil!!!!!!!

If everyone would just support those that don't buy oil from there they might just get the message.

MOBIL is 2 minutes from my house, Citgo is 25mins.

I am purchasing several 5 gallon containers and will buy 40 gallons at a time( inc. the tank full ).

I have thought about it alot. Heating oil is $1.17 gallon . State and Federal taxes are 56 cents in CT???

So how do we go from $1.73 or less in cost with a profit to $2.19???? GOUGING!!!!!!

This was sent to me:

Middle Eastern oil (for the period 9/1/00 - 8/31/01):

Shell...............205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil........130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway...117,740,000 barrels
Amoco...............62,231,000 barrels

If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18
BILLION!

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Citgo...............0 barrels
Sunoco..............0 barrels
Conoco..............0 barrels
Sinclair............0 barrels
BP/Phillips.........0 barrels
Hess................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing. They report on a monthly basis.

Keep this list in your car.

I hate to say it, but most places in Europe that is the cost PER LITRE of fuel...

Yes they are gouging big time.

Unfortunately, none of the companies that do not import from the mid east are near my house...

HOAX info on the fuel importing post above:

http://urbanlegends.miningco.com/library/bl-boycott-oil.htm

http://urbanlegends.miningco.com/library/bl-boycott-oil2.htm

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/nogas.htm

On to the topic at hand, I know at some pumps here in Alabama there are some stickers on the pumps that show just how much in total taxes (not just state) we're paying when we purchase a gallon of fuel. It was around like 40 cents here in Mobile, Alabama market I think.

Georgia has always had better fuel pricing, and seeing that they pay the least in state taxes, I can now see one of the reasons why.

Sincerely,

James

Just a note to all,

Those who are considering running heating oil or off road diesel be warned....

The IRS is the agency that monitors highway use taxes!! In my area (near route 95) I have seen them stopping trucks and sampling tanks for dye present. I know of one offroad user that was fined $5000.00 per truck (he has 4) for dye present in his truck tanks.

One must weigh small pump fees vs. high fines !!

Please all consider this before using off road diesel. Believe me I would be the first to use it. I run three small trucks (1 tons) plus two dump trucks.

I think these prices are a sign of things to come.

Today's prices here in Coops'ville:

Marathon/Speedway $1.89.9
Shell $1.89.9
Amoco $1.79.9

The Amoco station is 50 yards away from the other two stations and has been $.10 cheaper for the last two weeks! WTF?

Just filled at $1.609 on the way home. Yesterday I got stuck at $1.779 at a station that used to be one of the cheaper around.

As RWTD said, HOAX. Don't waste your time thinking your doing anything worthwhile by choosing who you buy from. The info is bogus. Just buy where your getting the best price.

Hey,

I did not know it was a hoax, anyway MOBIL in my area is now $2.09/gallon & CITGO is only $1.83/gallon so you all know where I am buying my fuel.

The other point I was trying to make is if they sell heating oil which is basically diesel for a refined deleivered price of $117.9/gallon and I add in my states tax and Federal tax I still only come up to $1.73/gallon. They are still profiting at that price as well.

I also know the manager of a large garbage trucking company in a nearby town ( Waste Management ) who buys his diesel 10,000 gallons at a time for $1.09/gallon. He buys that much every 2 weeks.

WE ARE ALL GETTING ROYALLY SCREWED!!!!!

I am still boycotting MOBIL!!!!

Thanks for the heads up anyway ;)

Last 2 fills have been 82.9 cents/litre. This converts to 2.15 per US gallon in USD. We have cheaper diesel, this is a premium diesel (highter cetane, etc.)
