View Full Version : Need Help - Put In Racor Pre-OEM
Just what everyone wants to hear about another fuel filter issue. Today I added a Racor head and filter pre-oem. I got it from Greg at Lube Specialist. I have everything installed, my question is how much priming should it take to get clear fuel at the bleeder screw. I bet I have pumped that thing a couple hundred times and all I get out of the bleeder screw is foam / bubbles. From what I can see on the clear bottom the Racor it appears to be full.
Any ideas - the wife wants the garage back.
all I get out of the bleeder screw is foam / bubbles By the time you read this, I'll bet you have
pushed the primer a few more times which
should have brought you diesel flowing from
the bleeder screw. Then fire that puppy up!
when i installed my pre-oem it only took about 45 pumps to get clean fuel w/o bubbles. then she started right up, as she has every time since then! ;)
If you are getting foam, it is likely that you have a leak somewhere. While it does take a while to come clear, it shouldn't take hundreds of pumps. I would investigate your plumbing first.

Correct as usual - I loosened a fitting on the filter head when routing the hoses originally and failed to tighten it back up. Wish I would have caught that before spewing diesel all over the garage floor on Saturday and then on the driveway on Sunday when it wouldnt start again.
Oh well live and learn
I know it has been discussed before - but now since I have removed the rust inhibitior from my frame rail -what do you guys that have been in this situation before replace it with????
Thanks Again you guys are great.

I bought some rubberized undercoating from Eastwood. I use one of those throw away brushes to put it on. It doesn't look pretty with the brush marks, but it is supposed to stand up to the fuel. When I replaced my line on Saturday, I went and covered every spot I had dripped fuel on then and in the past (after cleaning of course).
