Here is an interesting one.
With 17K problem free miles clutch started making a grinding sound when depreesed between 1/4 and 3/4 pedal travel. First thought was that it was a throwout bearing but this didn't make sense since the noise quit past 3/4 travel.
Took it to the dealer who was baffeled until he looked through TSRs and found that it was a common problem . Apparently the flywheel is 2 peices with springs between the 2 halves to absorb vibration. They had a bad batch of flywheels around 3-01 causing these springs to break.
The dealer swapped flywheel in 1 morning and everything is Hunky Dory.
So far this is only problem encountered and I am enjoying a quiet , powerful and fuel efficient(20 MPG) engine.
