My 2004.5 LLY glow plug indicator is staying on. Curious if anyone has an idea of a known problem, taking it in this eve to have the recalled seat belt and the glow plugs looked at....

Got the truck back, new controller installed for the glow plugs. Went out his morning and the same thing..... who knows...
I'm assuming they installed the updated controller p/n# 97379635? Any codes set???? if so is it a U0106??

Well brought the truck back in for the problem, come to find out they did nothing on the first trip to the dealer. Talking with the service rep. he said they could not duplicate the problem so he dug up an update for the computer and hoped that it would fix the problem (it didnt, for the second time). He also printed out a bulletin describing the operation of the glow plugs for a 2002 Duramax, I reckon he's not aware of the update to the glow plugs for the LLY? So I'm headed back in to try to get the prblem resolved...
Madmatt, thanks for the reply, curious if you can give me any helpfull info to provide my dealer with in trouble shooting the problem?
My problem only occurs on a stone cold engine (has to be shut down for at least 7 to 8 hours), the light will stay on at least 45 seconds +, had instances for 2 min. or better. They said that there were no codes present. Reading through my manual and it states that if the light stays on more than 5 sec. that it needs to be brought in for service immediatly?

Do you know if they tested any of the glow plugs? Extended glow times might affect them - assuming the plugs were getting power all the while the dash indicator was on....

had same problem, replaced controller, now all is good. The tech manual says the glow plugs on an LLY should stay on for 3 sec max!

To my knowledge there was no testing done to the glow plugs individually, can it be done, thought it was a grid system (I dont know)? The tech went off of GMs advice to replace controller first.
