Somewhere I saw a post that included a picture of the tool from Sears to remove the fuel line. I've tried the search and can't find it. I going to install the CAT filter this weekend and need to get the tool. Can anyone either point me to the post with the picture or tell me the part number?
Thanks a bunch.

Wayne,
Go with the Lisle tool...That's the one I used to remove the QD's on the tank sender and line behind the cooler ... I also found out the hard way that all fuel line disconnect tools are not alike (http://community.webshots.com/photo/67970835/72255850UuKWsX). The collar has to be long enough to depress the 4 tabs in side the QD Fitting (http://community.webshots.com/photo/67970835/72256238bjrjGJ) and you have to rotate the tool until it engages all 4 tabs - which can be a real pain since you can't see inside the fitting. I also tried the type with the handle like the KD in Mac's Pic (http://www.pbase.com/image/21199997) but it didn't work for me. The tool with a handle also needs more clearance to use.

Wayne,
I will second what Bill says above. When I installed my Racor supplemental filter on the frame, I removed the flexible hose between the fuel tank and metal fuel line behind the fuel cooler. I used the same tools shown by Bill in the link above (mine were purchased at Pep Boys, a parts store in So Cal.) to remove the two quick disconnects. It took a little bit of fiddling to get the quick disconnects to disengage. I could get the smaller QD one on the smaller fuel return line behind the fuel cooler to pop right off (just experimenting with the tool). However, the larger two quick disconnects on the supply line were more difficult. I had to take a break or two due to frustration (or was it the cramped quarters getting to the fuel tank QD), but the QD's eventually came off.
On another website, Ndamico (here) or Diesel Power (there) posted his technique. I thought it is relevant to the discussion here, so I copied it and pasted it below:
Nick posted "there is a bit of technique to it. i've done it about 12 times so far.. i slip the plastic white tool over the line, grab the back of the female end with my thumb and pull the white tool into the female end with my middle and forefinger. next i push the male and female ends together slightly as i mash the tool into the female connector. then, while keeping the tool in place i yank on the female end (and tool as 1 piece) and seperate it from the male.. viola!
if it doesn't come right off, try rotating the plastic tool about 20* then try again"
I hope the above helps your install task,
Alan
