Am I correct in thinking that the pilot injector turning "OFF" causes the engine to run louder, or is it the other way around? In any case why does it turn off and on? any particular conditions cause this? ie.(load, hard acceleration, steep incline etc.?) And is it harmful to the engine? Thanks.

there are a few factors to the pilot turning off...one is engine rpm... I think at speeds over 2600 rpm there isnt enough time to fuel and pre fuel the clynder compleatly? there's nothing to worry about I had time my 01 would get lost and turn the pilot off at 1300 rpm.... you want to talk about noise! when it did it I found if I just let it come back to idle for a split second it would turn back on! I think it was a juice/2001gm software issue that it wasnt 100% worked out?
