4L80E Losing fluid.

My 99,600 mile 4L80E is losing fluid. I plan to check the pan gasket and bolts. Is there anywhere else for the fluid to go? Is there a vacuum line to this trans? When I stop hard, I get smoke from trans fluid on the exhaust crossover pipe. It seems to be sloshing over the pan rail onto the exhaust. I just want to know if there are any other things to check while I am under there checking the pan.

I just bought this truck and hope I don't have some major breakage or leak. The transmission seems to work fine in all aspects...as long as it has enough fluid!

Iwould would start by getting a can of Gunk and spray the affected area and use a carwash high pressure hose to clean the area. This way you can periodically check and see where the leak originates.
