I heard a rumor that the header design of the 6.5TD that's in the HUMVEE is different from what we see in our civilian counterpart. Is this true? Is the different design for any reason other than the fact that the military knew the HUMVEE was going to get wet, therefore a cast iron header like ours would be a no-no? Any thoughts?

I'm working in Mosul, Iraq right now doing maintenance on military vehicles. The military Humvees use two different types of exhaust manifolds - the header type and the regular cast iron. IIRC, the early ones with the 6.2 get the header-type manifolds, and the later ones (especially the turbo engines) use the cast iron manifolds. I've never worked on a civilian 6.2 or 6.5, so I don't know how that compares...
