View Full Version : Where to purchase Delvac 1?
I know that Delvac 1 is available mail order, but I'd like to buy locally if possible. I've called a number of local retailers, but all seem to carry Delvac 1300 vs. Delvac 1. Same for Truck Stops located around here (Minneapolis area). Any thoughts as to who might stock it?
I have a Distributor in my area and a commercial account .... Go to http://www.prod.exxonmobil.com/channelpartners/mn_dist_detail_state.**p?state=mn
Have to replace the ** with j s no spaces ...
Anything close ??

I was in the same boat. Just could not find any around locally. Found a large truck supply warehouse that had 2 gallons covered in about
Mac...thanks for the post. I checked, and there are 2 dist near me, but both wanted full retail, which is more than AV Lube. Looks as if I may need to follow what HD-Nate did..
roegs, try talking to someone @ your local Wal-Mart. If they know there is a market for it, I'm sure they would start stocking it or order it in for you. I know the one here stocks the Delvac-1300, and they also stock the Rotella T Synthetic at a really good price ($12.84 a gallon), if you would consider using it instead. Good Luck, DinoMax :D :D
roegs,
Another option is CAT Synthetic Diesel Engine Oil (DEO) (http://www.cat.com/services/shared/parts_n_service/05_fluids/01_product_data_sheets/_datasheets/machlube/pehp7062.pdf) which is DELVAC-1 with a CAT label. It can be purchased at your local CAT dealer. However, note that the CAT version isn't listed as certified (http://eolcs.api.org/DisplayLicenseInfo.asp?LicenseNo=0788) on the API website (http://eolcs.api.org/) though the datasheet implies it is (??)

roegs,
I get mine for $19.93 a gallon at Chamberlain Oil Co. in St. Cloud ($79.72 for a case). They also have it in drums if you have $1000! They're just east of US 10 on MN 23

hello all
Where running Rotella T in all our fleet trucks and personal rig.. Rotella is a great oil.. Blackstone labs told us to keep using this oil for our fleet years back because it was one of the best on the market

jbplock...Interesting about the CAT oil. I looked at the API site, and am thinking that the CAT oil is approved. Just curious as to how you were able to determine that its Delvac 1 relabeled? See the API link below:

BigLakeDMAX....thanks for the tip on Chamberlin Oil. The local distributers here in Mpls are around $91 per case. They also sell it only in cases, which makes the second oil change a little spendy. Will Chamberlin sell by the gallon?

IIRC, I read about the CAT being the same here in the forum but I wasn't able to find the reference. However here is a post (http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=22;t=000026) where where George confirmed that Delvac-1 is the same as the CAT.
Regarding the CAT API Listing (http://eolcs.api.org/DisplayLicenseInfo.asp?LicenseNo=0788), the 5w40 is not there yet the CAT data sheet shows the API LOGO (I know, I'm ultra anal  ). A while back I sent emails to both CAT and API but the response from both was vague and inconclusive. When I get a chance I'm just going to stop by my CAT dealer and look at the CAT DEO container to see if it has the API label. My next oil change will be DELVAC-1 or CAT 5w40 DEO. Anyone using the CAT 5w40 that can confirm an API logo on the jug?

Roegs, have you tried Interstate Detroit Diesel in Eagan? They are just south of the airport.

Roegs - Chamberlain sells by the case only - they're mainly a wholesaler but will sell over the counter as well.
I called the local CAT dealer this am. Their CAT DEO sells for $26 per gallon. The price is about the same as Delvac 1, and I'm just a tad concerned about it being identical to Delvac 1.
SoMnDMAX...thanks for the tip on Interstate. They guy there said all they sell is Detroit Diesel oil.
Unless I can get a commcercial account going somewhere, its looking like AV Lube will be the easiest to use.
I suspect George Morrison sells a lot of Delvac 1 due to difficulty buying it locally! :D

I get mine at Truck Pro (www.truckpro.com) and can generally negotiate a price around $21/ gallon. They are not in MN though. I have also found it at a Freightliner dealer for 19.80 / gal. Regardless of where you get it, I am very impressed with the oil.
I've have purchased the four gallon cases twice from AVLUBE. In both instances, the oil arrived at my door step (in CA) in seven days via UPS.
From AVLUBE, the per gallon price is about $21 but when you figure in shipping to California, it works out to a little over $27 per gallon. The cheapest I found it within driving distance was around $23 per gallon plus tax brought it to about $25 per gallon out the door. So for an additional $8, I had the oil delivered to the door step instead of taking an hour of my time and mileage on my vehicle to drive and pick it up.
The oil appears to be only available from commercially oriented businesses. Have yet to really see it at any retail establishments.
As a side thought, the price of Delvac 1 is really in line with the Mobil 1 synthetic product for gasoline engines. At the local Pep Boys, the list price for a quart of Mobil 1 is $4.85. So that would be close to $20 per gallon.

I get mine from Egan Oil Co. in Anoka (763-421-0410). They are open Saturday mornings. $78.00 for 4 gallons.
