Orange peeled glow plugs

My new quick heat glow plugs went out in a few months. I have a manual switch, but would only turn them on for a short time(10 secs). They are supposed to be self regulating so that shouldn't matter. I pulled one and it was rough and pitted. JK asked if they had orange peel in a earlier post and they do. What could cause this?

WAY hot in there! I'd check timing etc.

Perhaps this is due to the black smoke your'e seeing, too much fuel?

I just got the new IP and injectors last week. The plugs went out long before that(well a 2 months at least). I think my old injectors and IP were not timed correctly and not working correctly since they were all original which caused it to have high EGT's. I had to floor it just to get to 65 so driving on the freeway must have been real hard on it. I need to get the timing checked anyways since I got my new pump. I got it turned down now so there is only some black smoke when I floor it. I had to turn it down about 3/8 of a turn though.
