View Full Version : coolant leak
Just noticed as the weather has gotten colder, a coolant drip off of the front driveshaft. Traced it up to a bolt on the oil filter adapter plate. Can't tell if it is coming from anywhere higher?? This is on an 03 2500 HD GMC. Any ideas since my 36K warranty is just about up. Thanks

The engine oil cooler is part of the oil filter adapter assembly. Coolant runs through part of it. This may be where the leak originates, but I'd investigate it a little more.
Look through the wheelwell opening to see if you can determine where the leak originates. There are a couple of block coolant drain bolts on each side of the block. One of them is close to that area.
I haven't heard of any other coolant leaks in this area reported by others... Be sure to check the head/block interface.
