I paid $2.03 a gallon earlier in the week and now its $2.19 a gallon. This particular gas station is usually the cheapest in the area.

This summer in ND where I live diesel was 20-25 cents a gallon cheaper than unleaded. Now it is considerably more - and rising almost daily! Getting real old. Where it really hurts is on the farm - a tanker load is going for about 1.70 now - which is what we should be paying for over the road fuel, not farm fuel!! It wasn't that many years ago when we got some tankers for under 50 cents a gallon - what I wouldn't give to have those days back...

We are now in the heating oil season, which means diesel (No. 2 fuel oil) is in much higher demand all across North America. Fuel oil prices will probably not be below gasoline until April.

Edited to mention:
Fuel oil prices have been escilating at a very fast rate this year. It helped Petro, the nations largest supplier of heating oil, to declare Chapter 11 on Monday.

The best I've seen here in PHX is $2.19. Within a 2 mile area from that station it was up to $2.39.

Drove by the gas station yesterday and the sign said $2.35 a gal. Going to make a trek down to San Diego in November pulling the new 5'ver. This could get expensive.

Diesel prices around here (Michigan) very by location. I can get it an adverage of 10 cents a gallon cheaper in Detroit than I can in Flint (about 50 miles north). I paid $2.19 the last time I filled up in Detroit (10/20/04).

What I do notice is that gasoline can change a penny or two daily. Diesel doesn't change as often but when it does go up or down, it usually jumps 10 cents at a time.

We just returned from St.George Ut. We took are travel trailer down for the winter. We see the price for fuel around the Salt Lake area at about 2.33 per gal. Down in south Ut. it is 2.36 as of today. It cost me 75 bucks to load in 32 gals. for the drive back. I sure hope it will subside soon. I will be parking the truck for the winter as I usually do so next March or April maybe just maybe it will be worth taking a few trips about.
Not liking it much.

Cheapest I have seen around here (Seattle, WA.) IS $2.27 / gallon. Highest I have seen is $2.49 a gallon. These crazy diesel prices don't make sense to me. I know it's supply and demand, but why is it more expensive than premium gasoline? This stuff is one step removed from the sludge they pump out of the ground in the Middle East. It is the least refined of almost all the fuels. What gives?

FatBoy, just bought diesel @ 2.089 in Peebles @ BP. Cheapest we found Sunday between Williamsburg and Ashland Ky. Strange because Ky. fuel is usually .5 to .10 / gal less than Ohio diesel. We ride ATV's in Maysville often and fuel is always .10-.15 less. bob...........

recently read an article in the local paper about diesel cost. Basically, they said that the cost difference of making diesel compared to gasoline was minimal, and was not enough to affect the cost at the pump. It all came down to Supply & Demand...
