View Full Version : Got my LLY Thursday
Had my wife drive me up to Decatur to pick up my truck on Thursday night. All I can say is WOW!!!
Very smooth, nice power, great ride. Some really nice whine from turbo, but still nice and quiet. I could actually order fast food without turning off the engine, I couldnt do that with my last 3 Dodge Cummins. One thing I saw in the owners manual was that the high idle feature that has been discussed here is controlled from the DIC and can be turned on or off. If there is any questions I can answer let me know.

Got any pic's of the engine you can post?Would like to see the physical changes made to it.................Thanks,JB.
Does the new LLY have a different duramax diesel badge or is it the same? I was just curious on how to tell the difference from the outside.
Thanks
Spud
Hey Spud,
My truck has the same Duramax badge as the LB7. But it does have a different screw cap for the oil fill.
I also read in my owners manual that the high idle feature also restricts the exaust flow so the engine heats up faster and you get heat quicker in the cab.
Oh, and the new glow plugs heat up very, very fast.

Service man at my dealer talked about the glow plugs. I think he said 3 seconds is allit takes no matter how cold the temp is.
Maddog3,
Regarding the high idle, does it say "high idle" in the DIC when engaged? How do you toggle between on/off?
Does it still have the o/d lockout?

MADDOG3:::: I see you bought from j. woods in decatur,tx. I live 20 minutes from there, what part of texas are you in...
Buck,
The high idle feature is displayed on the DIC when you scroll through the menu and then you can use the arrow button to turn it on or off.
And yes ,the overdrive can still be turned on or off by using the tow-haul button.
Dura-max3, I live in Keller. How's the fishing at Bridgeport.

Maddog3,
Do you get just 1 preset RPM (1200 RPM) or once turned on does the cruise control change RPM via set & resume like '01-'03 trucks. I'm very curious, as some changes have been made regarding high idle(compared to what a reliable tech told me in Nov '03)
Thanks,
Chris
BTW, I'm glad to see that the high idle option is "controlled" (on/off) ;) ;) ;) ;)
