Spoke with Banks Power tonight and got the details for the new Stinger system. Factory price is $1899.00 for stainless exhaust system to turbo downpipe, upgraded wastegate actuator, boost and EGT gauges + pod, K&N air filter and the Ottomind control system. Claimed figures from Mustang chassis dynamo testing is 68 RWHP and 140ft/lbs torque.
The system is designed to be closed loop by monitoring the CAN and PASS buses, EGT pyrometer and boost levels; fuel is cut back incrementally if the EGTs exceed 1350F. Like other units on the market, the power increase is momentarily backed off when the transmissions signals shifts and torque lockups.
Bank's also say they will back up any OEM warranty, so there's no need to remove the system from the vehicle to visit the dealer, althought the electronics can be disconnected as fast as any other add on box.
I asked which gauges were being used and was told that they use gauges made by Hewlett Packard as well as Isspro.
I liked the fact that the boost and EGTs were being monitored to prevent excessive EGTs etc.
