With the price of Diesel Fuel sky-rocketing anyone ventured out and tried to run Vegetable oil in their Duramax?

I think after reading this short blurb from ASAE it'll answer your question.

Yeah I am.

Not till after May in 2005 though. I'm lookin for a 2500HD Duramax either a late '03 or '04.5, rough selling price around 30K with low miles. I have my heart set on the Metallic Green or the Dark Metallic Gray. Don't really care if it's been motified or not. Perfer not!

Thanks shelbytt!

Take it for what it's worth but I ran my 6.5 on veggie for about 8 months. I burned through about 500-700gallons of the stuff. After a while I got very used to the handling of the stuff but it's filthy and your truck will never be clean no matter how hard you try. As long as your handling mass amounts of the stuff, your truck will be sticky and smelly. I got used to it.

After getting my D-max I stopped with the veggie. 2 months after getting this truck I started cleaning out the shed and disposing of all my unused oil. Man, how quickly we forget. I cannot stand the task of this final cleanup and wont go back to that unless prices hit $4.00+

Yeach. I've got a strong stomach but some of the oil I got (Clam King Resturant) was like stuffing my fingers down my throat. I had hundreds of gallons on hand, heaters filters, pumps... alot of upfront costs, fuel filtation on the truck, holding tanks and coolant based tank heaters..it's alot of work and like I said the only way I'll do it again is if a fillup breaks $100.00 for my 25gal tank.

Sorry guys, The Duramax can not run on Veggie oil, WVO. The design of the injection system and electronic will cause problems fuel system problems.

Biodiesel is the other option.
