I took my truck (GMC 3500) in for service and requested the TCM update and the OD lockout button to be installed...thanks to the info posted here I was aware of the retrofit option.

I got the truck back yesterday and the OD lockout button seems to function as expected. I have not used it under load yet, so I am looking forward to trying it out while hauling my camper up the Sierras in the near future. The dealer charged me $166.93 for parts and labor for the install.

While I agree with the wish to have the tranny stay in 5th gear longer, I hope the software (flash?) update will help with that issue. Still, I like having the option to limit the transmission to 4th gear!

Once again, thanks to those that made this information available. Otherwise, where/how would we learn about these things.
