View Full Version : MPG on 350 mile trip
Yep, little 350 mile trip to San Antonio, cruising at 85 mph = 14.4 mpg empty. Is this normal?
I would say no. I have a 4x4 crew with 6spd and I made a 250 mile trip at 80mph and got 18.23. At 90mph for a 85 mile trip I got 17.

Just drove to SEMA show in Las Vega, 680 miles each way. Averaged 18.1 down and 18.5 coming back. We drove at 80-82mph entire way.
With the 45gal transferflow tank, we didn't have to stop for fuel.

Last weekend I pulled my 25' Airstream (6000 lbs.) 400 miles into a strong headwind running 65-70 the entire time and got 12.8. On the return trip I had a good tail wind and got 15.5. It has 13K miles on it. I love this truck! tongue.gif

Swayse,
How tall are your ties? I have an aquaintance out here that gets terrible mileage with his 35's. The rest of us are getting what's posted above. I'm running 265's on stockers.
I've got 285/75/16 BFG AT KO. The speedo showed 79 to 80 mph, so I figure around 85 mph. I used 7.2% when I figured my mpg. I get around 13 mpg everyday driving on the farm. It might be Juice related(4.30 HOT), I took it off and sent it in yesterday for an upgrade. I've put about 140 miles on it since I've taken it off, and it looks like the fuel guage isn't going down as fast as it was before. Don't know.
420 miles last weekend. Set the cruise at 75 mph. The first 300 miles I got 18.5 with blended fuel and the last 100 miles got 20.5 on straight #2.
2400 mile round trip to Whistler, Canada from San Jose, truck loaded with luggage, dog, and four passengers, camper shell. Averaged 20 mpg driving around 70-80 mph.
Last Sunday through today ... 489.4 miles to and from NC piedmont to mountains ... 65-70mph, almost no cruise usage, 18.4 mpg ... low fuel light came on at 488.1 miles .... Jim
