Removing Cat. Converter on LLY

I used the search feature but couldn`t find anything about removing the cat. conv. from the LLY engine. Has anyone done it and what were the results ? If you go to a bigger exhaust system what do you do about the cat?

I have done it on both my trucks. 1 got a 4" exhaust, 1 got the 01-03 front pipe. The 2nd one seems to have better power and mileage, beleive it or not. The 1st sounds better.

I'm pretty sure that those with CA emissions have had codes set after removing the cat, but I haven't seen enough data to be certain that it is a major ocurrence. What you need to watch out for is the CA emissions hits the northeastern states as well, and some get mixed into the "general population" also.

I was asking on behalf of my son who just got a `04.5 LLY and is wanting to change the exhaust system.
